One of Peacemonger's original designs, this LIBERTY quarter image shows the father of our nation with a wry grin and a fat joint in his mouth. The date underneath Washington's portrait is 420. "In Bud We Trust" and a small pot leaf complete the reimagining of this iconic coin imagery. The first president of the United States grew hemp, and some say he was an avid smoker. Prohibition of marijuana began in 1936/37 at the behest of corporations like DuPont and Hearst who wanted a market that would buy plastic polyester pants and newspapers made from Hearst lumber rather than sustainable and efficient hemp. Liberty for cannabis/hemp was the inspiration for this design. Available as a button or magnetized.
